Based on the results from technical and preference testing the "Rua Stove" has been selected as the most suitable gasifier stove to initially be introduced in the project provinces with some necessary design improvements – others might follow later.
VietStove was one of our four suppliers who provided stoves to SNV for laboratory and field user-preference tests. The VietStove workshop has been actively doing business in the stove sector with relevant rice husk gasifier stoves and has strong interest to extend its business with an improved design in cooperation with traditional mechanical workshops in villages where open-source RUA stoves were massively produced.
VietStove workshop has agreed to play a significant role in the dissemination of the gasifier stoves to the two project provinces with support from SNV to develop sustainable distribution channels, as well as working directly with workshops to produce the improved RUA stove.
The aim of both parties is to deliver at least 500 gasifier stoves to local farmers in Quang Binh province by end of December 2014 through a commercial approach. The improved design of the rice husk gasifier stove will be distributed through a series of local shops in eight different communes in Quang Binh. SNV also supports VietStove in setting up local shops, printing leaflets, and marketing campaign through a series of stove demonstrations in village meetings.
